S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 \u00e9 uma esp\u00e9cie de Amazonas do Brasil ou Costa Rica, possui ainda uma natureza intoc\u00e1vel e um verde esmagador.<\/span><\/p><p>Em minhas primeiras visitas a este pa\u00eds fiquei chocado com a simplicidade com que as pessoas vivem. As ilhas eram desertas e n\u00e3o havia sinais de povos anteriores. Um verdadeiro parque jur\u00e1ssico, mas com poucos animais end\u00eamicos. Alguns macacos, morcegos e pequenos roedores. Todos os outros foram introduzidos pelo homem.<br \/>A popula\u00e7\u00e3o de S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 foi constitu\u00edda maioritariamente pelos escravos trazidos do Gab\u00e3o, Angola e Cabo Verde. Com esta for\u00e7a bruta foram constru\u00eddos as famosas Ro\u00e7as e o cultivo da lavoura. <br \/>S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 e Pr\u00edncipe chegou a ser um dos pa\u00edses mais importantes do mundo na exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de cacau e caf\u00e9. Atualmente o pa\u00eds vive basicamente de ajudas internacionais e do turismo.<br \/>Ainda \u00e9 poss\u00edvel encontrar praias paradis\u00edacas com \u00e1guas quentes. Grandes cadeias hoteleiras j\u00e1 se instalaram nas ilhas e \u00e9 poss\u00edvel desfrutar de umas f\u00e9rias simples em pequenos hot\u00e9is ou em hot\u00e9is de As ilhas s\u00e3o montanhosas e as temperaturas tamb\u00e9m variam de acordo com a altura dos picos das montanhas mais altas, que chegam a dois mil metros acima do n\u00edvel do mar. Uma esta\u00e7\u00e3o secund\u00e1ria seca entre Dezembro e Fevereiro com altas temperaturas e ventos secos e empoeirados. Finalmente duas esta\u00e7\u00f5es chuvosas: a primeira mais longa entre mar\u00e7o e maio e a segunda mais curta entre outubro e novembro. As duas \u00faltimas temporadas s\u00e3o caracterizadas pela extrema variabilidade com chuva forte, sol e alta humidade.<\/p><p>A chuva \u00e9 mais intensa ao longo das encostas do sudoeste, onde existe uma precipita\u00e7\u00e3o de 5.000 mm por ano, enquanto nas \u00e1reas do norte de S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 a precipita\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 de 1.000 mm por ano com 94 dias de chuva e 1.671 horas de sol. Na principal cidade da ilha de Pr\u00edncipe, Santo Ant\u00f3nio, cai uma m\u00e9dia de quase 2.000 mil\u00edmetros de chuva por ano.
